Our Story

Tempos Lighting was established to make our dream of quality, exciting, predictive LED lights that were also affordable and easy to use a reality on the market.

Hi, I’m Griffin the founder of Tempos. The passion and know how behind Tempos and its BeatSynch tech originally started in my Oregon State dorm room about 7 years ago. During my freshman year I was unsatisfied with the LED strips I got off amazon, while also finding a passion for coding individually addressable LED strips. My new interest in coding soon connected to my experiences at live concerts and the way I’d always loved how visuals and lighting enhanced music. Those LED strips I’d originally had little use for became my main focus and I found a drive to synchronize music & lighting using all I was learning about coding.

What started as a college project has now followed in the years since I graduated. Over the course of my career the desire to create my own lighting system persisted and I never really stopped developing what is now Project Tempos, and what will soon be our first product on the market, the Tempos Hub. This LED controller is what I wish I had access to my freshman year, and I’m excited to share it with you soon.

Tempos gets its name from its unique BeatSync technology. Specifically advance algorithms that Tempos uses for synchronization, beat detection, and phrase interpretation to track and predict what’s happening in your music as its playing in real time. Tempos doesn’t react, it actively analyzes your music, figures out the tempo and predicts upcoming beats, producing complex and beautiful animations to match whatever you're listening to-- no matter the mood.

This project, called Tempos, has evolved to encompass two goals.

  1. Educate and inspire others' interest in coding w/ LEDs

2. Bring advanced light synchronization technology to the masses
